Thoughts from Pastor Holloman
It is hard to believe that this Sunday is the last Sunday before the time changes. It is so quick now. So for those who like to start to prepare, remember that on Sunday, March 14th, we spring forward one hour (We lose an hour sleep Saturday night.)
This Sunday, as we continue looking at things we hear, I am fascinated by our Gospel lesson from Luke. It is one of those things we don’t talk about much and only Luke tells the story. It appears that while Jesus was teaching the people about being faithful and diligent in their actions, someone brings up this terrible story about some Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. It appeared that Pilate had some people killed at the Temple while they were sacrificing their animals to God.

This Month's Mission Focus
February will be Health Kit Month; UMCOR. Here is the list of these items needed. You can bring in complete health kits or just some of the items if you want to buy multiples of one or two items. There will be bins in the Narthex to place the items in.
Health Kit Items Value: $12 per kit
(Place these items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.)
· 1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", No kitchen towels)
· 1 washcloth
· 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
· 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
· 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
· 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
· 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
· $1.00 to purchase toothpaste
(NOTE: UMCOR Sager Brown is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)Even though no donation will be refused, UMCOR requests there are no substitutes and/or extras placed in these kits.
